Join us for a talk with Elias and Yousef Anastas on Stone Matters, an experimentations-based body of research into the potentials for including stone in the language of contemporary architecture, and for combining traditional craftsmanship and materials with innovative construction techniques.

Stone Matters takes the form of a series of site specific real-scale experimentations, academic articles, and a community-based global atlas of elements of architecture made of stone. Stone Matters fabrication process combines traditional local stone cutting and masonry techniques with contemporary technology.

ICD Brookfield Place invites you the opening of Beam, Corbel & Ribs by @aauanastas
with live performances curated by Radio Alhara @radioalhara @atarisounds @hasan.hujairi and @wywy.music

Commissioned by the ICD Brookfield Place Arts Programme, the exhibition brings together fragments of unbuilt stone architectures developed in AAU Anastas’ studio in Bethlehem. These works take the form of three structural acts: a beam, a corbelling structure, and a ribbed vault. Through monologues written by Karim Kattan and a sonic composition by @aho_ssan, the fragments are given voice and spatial presence.
