message from the ceo

The climate crisis demands immediate action, and
the real estate sector stands at a critical crossroads.
Buildings account for approximately 40% of global
greenhouse gas emissions, making our industry
both a significant contributor to climate change and a
powerful catalyst for transformation.

At ICD Brookfield Place, we embrace thes challenges as
an opportunity to redefine what sustainable real estate
can achieve. Our vision extends beyond complianc-
we aim to set new industry benchmarks through bold
climate action & innovation.

We have established clear and ambitious targets:
achieving net-zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030,
while concurrently reducing our value-chain emissions
through strategic partnerships with our tenants and
our suppliers. Our ultimate goal is to achieve whole-
life net-zero carbon by 2050, aligning with and aiming
to exceed the UAE’s national climate targets of a 56%
reduction in building emissions by 2030 and carbon
neutrality by 2050.

This commitment is reinforced by our alignment with
the World Green Building Council’s Advancing Net

Zero Initiative & Brookfield Asset Management’s pledge
to reach net-zero GHG emissions by 2050 or sooner.

Our roadmap to net zero follows three strategic pillars:

  • Optimising energy efficiency across our operations
  • Transitioning to renewable energy sources
  • Implementing verified carbon offset programs for
    unavoidable emissions

We recognise that approximately 50% of our
operational carbon footprint stems from tenant spaces,
making collaboration essential to our success. By
partnering with our tenants, we amplify our collective
impect — accelerating their sustainability achievements
while expediting our shared path to net zero.

As we navigate this transformation, we invite all
stakeholders to join us in this defining endeavour.
Together, we can create a future where building not only
meet the needs of people today but also play a role in
safeguarding the planet for generations to come.
